Gold Star Families and
Combat Veterans
I became a Gold Star Brother on July 23, 2003, when my older brother, Captain Joshua Byers, was killed in action in Iraq while leading a convoy of troops. Our family has the privilege to work with organizations such as American Gold Star Mothers, Dark Horse Elite, and many others who are serving veterans and their families on a daily basis.
IronMan 70.3 Finisher (2023)
In honor of the 20th anniversary of losing my brother in Iraq, I finished an IronMan triathlon alongside my brother, Jared, and Patrick Benson (Founder of Dark Horse Elite and soldier who served in Iraq with my brother, Josh).
Touring Musician
For ten years, I saw the world from a van or bus on tour with several rock bands. The bulk of that time I was in the band Bleach (2000-2005), playing close to 200 shows/year. As guitar player and principal songwriter, I co-wrote and recorded three albums with the band that were internationally distributed on Tooth & Nail/ Capitol Records.
